Job description

The Family Nurse Practitioner reports to the Director of Family Medicine regarding administrative, provider relations and other day to day guidance. Assigned to supervising physician under the Texas Medical Board for medical consults and abides by appropriate clinical protocols. Provides quality, comprehensive out-patient primary health care services to the Center’s Family Medicine patients of all ages. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Examines, diagnoses, treats and/or refers patients assigned to physician’s panel, on an out-patient basis. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions consulting with supervising physician. 2. Maintains a problem-oriented health record for each patient seen in accordance with the Center’s established Health Informatic Management policies and procedures to include providing appropriate and legible documentation. Completes thorough documentation of each patient’s visit in the electronic health record and ensures encounters are closed within 24 hours in accordance with the Center’s established Health Information Management policies and procedures. 3.
