Strengthening and empowering all of the communities we serve. The Oregonian/OregonLive seeks an experienced editor to lead our Express and Public Safety news teams, which sit at the center of our daily news operation. You’ll oversee a wide range of coverage, from breaking crime and community news to deeply reported enterprise stories, and you’ll help reporters and editors shift smoothly between the two depending on the news of the day. The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000 per year, depending on experience. You’ll lead a talented mix of early-career and deeply experienced journalists, including supervisors. You’ll set the tone for fast, accurate, iterative coverage — and you’ll also create the conditions for ambitious enterprise reporting that grows out of the daily report. What you’ll be doing: - Drive daily reporting: Assign, edit and publish breaking news with speed, accuracy and strong news judgment; guide iterative updates as stories develop. - Steer enterprise and accountability: Coach reporters and editors to identify the stories that merit deeper digging and help them deliver long-term work with clear lines of effort and smart pacing. - Manage and develop...
