Department PATIENT LOGISTICS CENTER - 107183: Worker Sub Type Regular Work Shift Pay Grade: Job Description: The Transport Authorization Specialist is responsible for coordinating medical transportation and helps facilitate patient transfers within and outside of Valley Health. Responsibilities include, but not limited to obtaining pre-authorization from transportation brokers for ambulance, wheelchair and ambulatory transports; access and maintain awareness of the broker manifests and communicate changes and assignments with all transportation providers; schedule and assist with scheduling future transports with Valley Medical Transport; follow-up with referrals to ensure completion of the transport; facilitate all aspects of the transport to include relaying specific information such as pick-up and drop-off location and bed allocation/placement. The Transport Authorization Specialist is expected to develop strong professional relationships with each transportation broker to streamline the transportation process for beneficiaries and the referrals; this includes providing area and service familiarization to the routers of the transportation broker.
