Responsibilities: Identifies coverage issues affecting the oncology patient and possible alternate sources of coverage through healthcare and community agencies and resources. Works with patients who are under-insured and identifies alternate resources. Performs comprehensive benefit analysis for patients with insurance coverage issues. Coordinates financial assistance process, including patient contact, submission of financial assistance application and Medicaid/ Medicare application process. Tracks coverage issues throughout the treatment period and provides clinical team with information on status of coverage issues. Assists with coverage for lodging and transportation needs for patients coming from outside the metro area. Researches assistance options.
