Job description

The Steam Distribution Department is seeking to hire General Utility Workers (GUW) to perform mechanical and maintenance work on steam distribution components and equipment in the field. Selected candidates for this posting will be assigned to Steam Distribution Field Operations in Manhattan. Core Responsibilities: - Maintains, repairs, and installs steam piping, associated valves, traps, pumps, and other steam components. - Works assigned shifts which may include rotating schedules, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed to meet the operational needs of the department. - Selected candidates for this posting will be assigned to Steam Distribution Field Operations in Manhattan. - Works in high temperature environments and confined or restricted workspaces, including manholes and underground vaults. - Works in indoor, outdoor, and underground environments in all weather conditions. - Uses various tools, field power tools, and precision equipment. - Responds to emergency calls; performs mandated inspections and steam distribution maintenance in the field; and prepares accurate, concise reports. - Reads and interprets schematic drawings and engineering prints. - Maintains a working...
