Overview Engineers will support design, test, and construction efforts for the LOS ANGELES, OHIO, SEAWOLF, VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA Classes of Submarines. There are three functional areas providing engineering support for submarine safety (SUBSAFE) requirements, underwater explosion (UNDEX) large vehicle shock test programs and fastener engineering. Responsible for ensuring that all work performed on submarines comply with all SUBSAFE requirements. Responsibilities include conducting internal audits, training, developing “Design Review Procedure” booklets, developing class and ship design reports, developing and maintaining class SUBSAFE test form certification lists, developing the class submarine sea trail certification booklet/SUBSAFE certification audit plan, reviewing the submarine safety certification boundary book, as well as monitoring SUBSAFE deviations and waivers. Responsible for the concept, design, procurement, fabrication and installation of equipment into various underwater shock test vehicles.
