From the Orioles’ clubhouse to boxing gyms, horse tracks, and college arenas, you will produce stories that inform, entertain, and resonate with readers—while helping grow our subscriber base. This is a role for a journalist who can break news with authority, craft deeply reported profiles and enterprise pieces, and combine storytelling with data-driven insights. You’ll cover the business of sports, explore cultural and community impact, and help readers understand both the game and the world around it. What You’ll Do: - Break significant sports news, from Orioles headlines to high-profile local sports events. - Serve as the backup Orioles reporter, traveling to ~35% of away games and attending ~60% of home games (adjusted based on breaking news and story potential). - Produce compelling features, profiles, and enterprise pieces that reveal the “why” behind the action. - Monitor the local sports scene, uncovering stories our readers didn’t know they wanted.
