Job description

- Operate vehicle according to all safety standards and in accordance with state law - Follow assigned route and adhere to established schedules - Drive van to and from extracurricular activities - Check van for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notify supervisor of needed repairs - Report all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, mechanical failure, and complete required reports - Keep records on van mileage, gas and oil consumption, and number of passengers transported - Keep assigned van clean and fueled - Learn and adapt to each student’s special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs - Supervise students as they board and leave van and cross street - Communicate with teachers and caregivers on a daily basis regarding student behavior while on bus - Maintain discipline and report student discipline problems to appropriate administrator - Instruct students on safe riding rules and regulations - Ensure safety by engaging in pre-trip review/ inspect any vehicle prior to driving - Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses - Ensure proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flag...
