Job DetailsJob Location: Texarkana, TX 75501Position Type: Full TimeThe Public Health Technician provides HIV, HCV, STD and TB education, counseling and testing to at-risk individuals. The goal of this interaction is to assist the client in recognizing behaviors that are placing them at risk and identifying solutions to reduce risks. Clients receiving HIV testing must be provided risk reduction and post-test counseling with referral to ancillary services provided if needed. Assists individuals who test positive for HIV in accessing services. Position requires familiarity with community resources in order to conduct referrals to services including; substance abuse treatment, STD/TB Clinics, and other services. Provide HIV/AIDS/HCV education to public in traditional and non-traditional settings. Assists senior staff in developing new testing sites and collaborations with other entities. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide HIV prevention counseling and testing according to TDSHS guidelines Assist client to develop individualized risk reduction plans.
