Job description

Location/Department: Hospital - Cardiac Rehab PRN: Job Summary: Renders professional nursing care to patients in the Cardiac Rehab program in accordance with physician orders & established department policies & procedures. Assess patient’s conditions, provides treatment, observes, reports & records pertinent observation & response to treatment & exercise. Duties/Responsibilities: - Uses only approved abbreviations. - Understands patient safety goals & actions taken. - Demonstrates awareness of patient rights. - Uses 2 patient identifiers before giving treatments, demonstrates process. - Understands read back of verbal orders/critical lab values & can state process. - Understands procedure to clarify physician orders. - Uses standing orders when indicated. - Reports sentinel events or adverse reactions/incidents as warranted. - Perform initial evaluation for entry into program. - Develop individual exercise prescriptions for patients. - Supervise exercise sessions. - Provides inpatient & outpatient education regarding cardiac rehab for patient & family. - Maintains competencies in Cardiac Rehab area.
