ESSENTIAL TASKS: The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Receives, transports, supervises and monitors the work of inmate workers and community service defendants participating in the respective programs from SC Department of Corrections, Solicitor’s Office, Magistrate Courts and Detention Center. Receives written and/or verbal instructions for the assignment of inmates and community service workers. Prepares and maintains reports of assigned activities and worker records. Provides training of crew members on the policies, procedures and laws that govern inmates pertaining to the Department of Corrections.. Supervises an average of 40 inmates and community service defendants. Monitors the timely completion of work assignments, which may include but are not limited to litter control, general custodial maintenance, grounds maintenance, vehicle maintenance, debris disposal, delivery of equipment and goods, etc.; inspects work for compliance with instructions, policies and procedures, and standards of quality and safety; provides as...
