Overview Department: Medical Education: Schedule: Part Time: Facility: Prime Healthcare St Francis Hospital Location: Evanston, IL: Responsibilities: The Diabetes Educator is responsible to assist with the daily assessment of the needs of the in-patient and out-patient departments related to diabetes patient education, initial and on-going training of staff, coordinate, implement and evaluate specific diabetes education related to clinical nursing/staff functions. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring that all patient care nursing staff is oriented to the diabetes standards of care and the nursing scope of practice at the Medical Center as well as the policy and procedures and medical equipment used in routine diabetes patient care. The incumbent acts as a facilitator for learning new skills as well as updating current skills related to diabetes. The Diabetes Educator is responsible for communication with the Directors and Supervisors regarding diabetes educational needs, and participates in planning the curriculum.
