SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: This class is responsible for diagnosing mechanical problems and repairing a variety of equipment including trucks, construction vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing all mechanic repairs/overhauling engines/clutches/brakes/steering/differentials/transmissions and related mechanical units/parts; disassembling motors; repairing/replacing parts/defective wiring for ignition/lighting systems; re- assembling/adjusting/testing repaired equipment; adjusting/realigning brakes; rebuilding alternators/starters; driving/operating vehicles in performing work assignments/responsibilities. Operates under supervision of the Fleet Shop Supervisor, in accordance with establish policies and procedures. Extended hours, call back and on call availability are required. Performs related work as required. FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Good knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and procedures; good knowledge of the principles of operation of gasoline and diesel engines; knowledge of repair techniques; knowledge of various types of testing/repair equipment; skill in troubleshooting/correcting defects in moto...
