Position: Planning Technician Coop Student Salary: Grade 4, Non Union ($24.51/hr) Position Group: (Position Group assessment required) Reports to: Division Leader – Community Planning Purpose of Position:The Planning Technician Coop Student is responsible for performing various activities associated with the support of planning activities, including conducting surveys, research, data analysis, and preparing documents. Qualifications & Experience: - Must be currently enrolled in a College or University in the field of Urban & Regional Planning or related field of study; - Strong oral and written communication skills. Knowledge & Skills: - Familiarity with general land use planning principles - Knowledge of word processing, spread sheets, GIS, interpreting air photos and maps, and a familiarity with reading plans - An understanding of the core principles and considerations of urban design. - Knowledge of the planning and development processes in Ontario and the role of urban design. - Knowledge of computer software such as MS Office Suite.
