Location New York, New York Shift: Day (United States of America) Description: Helping Families, Changing the World: Mental Health Professionals Make an Impact The Diagnostic Evaluation Stabilization Center (DESC) at New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital strives to provide high quality, state of the art, acute psychiatric care to our pediatric population in Washington Heights, Inwood and the surrounding areas. Our diverse patient population spans a wide range of cultural, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds. DESC provides care to families that come from marginalized and underserved, lower socioeconomic status backgrounds, primarily those that identify as Latinx and African American. Many of our patients have not had previous mental health services. DESC serves as an outpatient crisis program to stabilize youth within our community in need of psychiatric care, while simultaneously working with their parents, families and caregivers to enhance involvement in treatment.
