Position Summary Intern will assist the Houston Parks and Recreation Department with stewardship and restoration of the City's nature preserves and natural areas. Interns will assist in invasive species removal through chemical and mechanical methods, work in a greenhouse setting to propagate plants for restoration projects. Work with volunteers in plant propagation and planting in project areas. Assist in data collection, research, analysis, evaluation, inspections, or surveys. Work in a field team setting to complete assigned tasks. Interns will gain knowledge of natural resource management, habitat restoration, and botany. Gain knowledge of plant propagation techniques. Hands-on experience of chemical and mechanical methods. Safety practices and techniques for field work. Skills in operating and maintaining common tools and equipment used in habitat restoration work.
