Terms and conditions apply.** The practice of interventional radiography (cardiology and vascular) is performed by radiologic technologists responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation to humans of all ages (newborn to geriatric) for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. An interventional technologist performs radiographic and other procedures and related techniques, producing images at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner. Core Competencies: Perform all the duties of an Interventional Technologist I. Capable of safely administering contrast or other imaging agents including the identification of incompatibilities and/or interactions. Expected to assess a patient’s risk for allergic reaction to contrast media and other related medications prior to administration and following appropriate protocols for escalation of concerns. Expected to evaluate lab values prior to administering contrast media or other related medications and beginning the ordered examination.
