The Interdisciplinary Science (IS) Department at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The appointment will be for a one-year appointment with an opportunity for a one-year renewal to perform research in the area of electric power grids. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Perform cyber-physical system modeling and simulation for the power grid. - Perform research on power system dynamics and control under high inverter-based resources (IBRs). - Develop and apply artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) techniques for power system planning, operation, control, and cybersecurity. Position Requirements: Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Math, or other related fields with a broad knowledge of electric power systems. - Experience with cyber-power system modeling, simulation, dynamics, and Python and/or MATLAB programming. - A strong background in AI/ML applications in the power grid. - Good written and oral communication skills, be willing to take direction, and be able to work with others as part of a project team.
