The Faculty of Educational Sciences invites applications for the position of: ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE OR FULL PROFESSOR OF BIOLOGY EDUCATION The appointee may be appointed to a fixed-term tenure-track assistant or associate professorship or permanent full professorship, depending on their qualifications and career stage. Further information on the University of Helsinki’s tenure track system is available on the University website. The appointment is to begin on 1 January 2027. Job overview: The duties of the position include leading research, developing research networks and engaging in international activities in the field, as well as providing teaching particularly in subject teacher training, the Study Track for Class Teachers and doctoral education. Biology is a natural science subject taught at comprehensive and general upper secondary school, designed to stimulate interest in biological and environmental sciences and support pupils’ and students’ scientific thinking. In primary school, biology is taught as part of environmental studies, and in lower secondary school and general upper secondary school as an independent subject.
