Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES: - High school graduate or equivalent required - Current certification as a Surgical Technologist - Minimum of two years' work experience as a CST at an acute care or rural hospital. - BLS current at time of hire - Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, sterile supplies and equipment. - Ensure all surgical equipment/instrumentation is sterilized and functioning properly prior to presentation to sterile field and use. - Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and supplies, providing retraction, improving visual field, and other duties as delegated with the scope of the CST. - Maintain a sterile environment through adherence to sterile/aseptic technique to minimize the risk of infection in accordance with recognized national standards and hospital specific policies and procedures. . - Monitor and account for all surgical tools and supplies throughout the procedure. Consistently participate in surgical counts at appropriate times.
