Overview The Work: The Interpreter facilitates effective communication between individuals experiencing language barriers and organizations, agencies, or service providers. The Interpreter ensures accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation of spoken or signed language in a variety of settings, including but not limited to education, healthcare, legal proceedings, social services, and environmental discussions. The Interpreter must adhere to professional ethics and confidentiality standards while contributing to equitable access to resources for diverse populations. Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities: - Accurately interpreting spoken work situations like lectures, conversations, and meetings. - Utilizing technology to transcribe spoken English in some settings. - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Qualifications – Here’s What You Need - High School/BA Degree/ or equivalent in years of experience - Medical Interpreting Training School - Foreign Service Institute - Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters. - 40/60hr medical training. - Experience with State Department experience/ refugees, FDA, Health & Human services, Medical, Legal, Housing Authority etc...
