Description The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Neurology. Founded by Dr. Horatio Wood in 1871, Penn Neurology is the nation's first department of neurology and has a rich history, with a long tradition of excellence in patient care, research and education in both adult and pediatric neurology. Since its founding, Penn Neurology has shaped the field by pioneering essential neurologic treatments and diagnostic techniques. The Department has systematically built programs that have become deeply integrated into the fabric of Penn Medicine, the University, and the community. In addition to excellence in its tripartite mission, the Department of Neurology has substantive ties to multiple centers, institutes, departments and other schools on campus. The Chair of the Department directs nearly 200 full-time and associated faculty engaged in a comprehensive range of clinical activities organized into 20 clinical divisions and programs, with an additional 465 professional and support staff.
