Optical Engineer

Job description

An innovative international technology company, active in advanced imaging and high-precision equipment, is looking for an experienced Optical Engineer to strengthen its R&D team. You will contribute to the development of high-end optical systems used in industrial production environments. Work locations: West Flanders (Belgium) and Southwest Germany (with regular presence in Belgium required). Key Responsibilities: - Design and develop advanced optical systems in collaboration with project leaders, product managers, and a multidisciplinary R&D team - Create and optimize optical designs using simulation tools (e.g. Zemax) and work closely with CAD engineers for mechanical integration - Work with a wide range of optical components such as lenses, mirrors, fiber lasers, and LEDs - Contribute to high-precision systems operating at (sub)micrometer level, in close collaboration with mechanical, electronic, and software teams - Build and validate optical test setups, prototypes, and subassemblies, and ensure knowledge transfer towards production and service teams - Support the sourcing and selection of specialized optical components together with procurement - Drive continuous improvemen...
