Building Inspector

Job description

JOB SUMMARY: The Building Inspector is a skilled technical position that conducts inspections on commercial and residential construction projects; compares construction to the construction plans to ensure construction projects are compliant with all of the provisions of the building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and related codes, the specific standards of materials, workmanship and safety, and the code within the City ordinances. This position is expected to maintain the highest level of customer service while engaging with contractors, homeowners, the general public and other city departments. This position reports directly to the Building Official. QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and three years related experience; or equivalent education and experience. Associate's degree preferred. Special Requirements: ICC Certification as Building, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical or Combination Inspector or two years special training in municipal inspections is preferred.
