Description Job Summary: To fill prescriptions, dispense medicines, and provide information to patients and other health practitioners regarding the nature and use of medications. To advise physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications. Possession of a controlled substance license or eligible for licensure. Must be licensed prior to hire date. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration. Knowledge of policies and procedures pertaining to the disbursement of pharmaceutical drugs. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of constituencies. Responsibilities: Prepares and/or oversees the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications; assesses the identity, strength, and purity of medications.
