Job description

Description What you will be doing: - Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as a part number, selects alloys and heat numbers, number of materials to be melted, appropriate oven time and temperature, and the foundry method to be followed. - Verifies incoming metal shipments; stores metal and ensures weight accuracy of all materials/ orders prior to processing in the foundry. - Perform furnace, system and equipment checks; ensure required ladles are available; ensure the temperatures of the pre-heat furnaces meet specifications; and make changes to the controller settings as deemed necessary. - Determine crucible size for shells being cast; identify alloy grade and melt practice to be used; determine pouring parameters and adhere to the melt procedures. - Fill furnace with metal and observe the melting process so as to avoid damage to equipment and personnel. - Skims slag from surface of molten metal in the furnace, using hand strainer. - Read temperature gauges and observe color changes, adjusting electrical heating units as necessary to melt metal to specifications. - Responsible for the deoxidization procedure for ferrous alloys. - Draw smelte...
