Title: Assistant Attorney General, Office of Civil Rights State Role Title: Assistant Attorney General Hiring Range: Commensurate with Experience: Pay Band: UG: Agency: Attorney General & Dept of Law Location: Office of the Attorney General Agency Website: https://www.oag.state.va.us/: Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties: This position enforces the Virginia Human Rights Act (VHRA) and the Virginia Fair Housing Law (VFHL). The attorney conducts investigations and brings civil actions under the VHRA and VFHL. The attorney also advises OCR investigators on cases that allege discrimination in employment, places of public accommodation, and educational institutions. The position requires the ability to conduct complex civil litigation in state circuit courts involving subject matter jurisdiction, adequacy and admissibility of evidence, proper application of judicial precedent, and the rules of civil procedure. This attorney will work closely with the OCR paralegal, investigators, and other attorneys. Attorney also advises on related bills during legislative session.
