Position Overview We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Social Studies teacher to join and lead our High School Social Studies department. BelovED’s Social Studies program builds rigorous academic skills and knowledge, while also engaging students in authentic, purposeful learning experiences that honor student voice and choice. We focus especially on building skills in critical literacy, primary source document analysis, writing, argumentation, research, and synthesis -- the skills that students will need to succeed in college, career, and as engaged citizens. We build academic communities in our classrooms characterized by a willingness to take intellectual risks and engage in exploration. As a department, we aim to create a teaching team characterized by collaboration, trust, transparency, mutual respect, and joint commitment to academic excellence and student well-being. We provide our teachers with extensive coaching and support. We offer a variety of history courses at the general and AP level, as well as elective courses, and we involve teachers in curriculum development and growing our course selection.
