Job DetailsJob Location: Bridgewater College - Bridgewater, VA 22812Position Type: Full TimeMODERN EUROPEAN HISTORY FACULTY Visiting Assistant Professor of Modern European History Bridgewater College, The Rhodes School and the Department of History and Political Science invite applications for a full-time, 9-month, Visiting Assistant Professor to teach classes in modern European History beginning August 17, 2026. We are seeking a Modern European Historian who brings student-centered engagement and a passion for the study of history into the college classroom. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Teach lower-level world history survey and upper-division courses in modern European history Teach 24 semester credits per year (4-4 distribution) Participate in the College’s general education program Teach and mentor students within a liberal arts context WHAT YOU BRING: Creativity and innovation in pedagogy and research Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across campus PREFERRED: Ph.D. in Modern European History (exclusive of Britain).
