Assistant Bridge Rater (Civil Engineer II) - ( 260002O2 ) Description Position Summary: About MassDOT Highway Headquarters Bridge Section The Headquarters Bridge Section is where driven, passionate bridge enthusiastic individuals are responsible for design, and operations and maintenance of bridges, tunnels, and other ancillary structures. The section works to ensure safe bridges for public use in conformance with the state and federal regulations. When you choose to join the team, you will not only be a member of a robust in-house bridge team you will be actively engaged in ensuring load carrying capacity of bridges across the Commonwealth. Incumbents of this position with normal supervision from engineers of higher grade prepare Live Load Capacity for bridges of normal complexity, using AASHTO and MassDOT standards and prepare and review rating reports for these bridges. Incumbents also perform Overload Capacity calculations of bridges of normal to moderate complexity using AASHTO and MassDOT standards including preparation and review of overload reports and memos for these bridges.
