Position Title Bed Placement Specialist Liberty Hospital: Position Summary / Career Interest: Plan, coordinate, and manage patient bed assignments to ensure the patient is admitted to the most appropriate patient care unit in a timely manner from all points of entry (ED, PACU, direct admissions, transfers). Facilitate communication among patient care units, ancillary departments and collaborate with physicians and staff to promote efficient and appropriate bed placement. Function as a liaison with physician offices to take orders and facilitate direct admissions. During periods of low patient activity, assist in the collection of performance improvement data from the medical record. Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions: - Serve as a resource to patient care units and physician offices regarding appropriate bed placement. - Prioritize bed placement, matching patient’s clinical needs with nursing skill set and unit competencies. - Solve problems effectively and make independent and timely decisions. - Seek information, anticipate needs and collaborate with the Nursing Office on staffing issues. - Utilize the tracking board for current patient and bed information. - Display co...
