Job Description: The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a seasoned, strategic, and solutions-driven County Attorney to lead the Office of the County Attorney. This position serves as the chief legal advisor to County leadership, providing counsel on complex municipal, legislative, and civil matters that influence the County’s long-term success. This position reports directly to the County Administrator; as well as provides legal advice to the Board of County Commissioners. Leads and manages all operations of the County’s legal office, including supervising attorneys, paralegals, and support staff. Advises and represents the Board of County Commissioners, departments, boards, and agencies on legal and policy issues. Develops and reviews contracts, resolutions, ordinances, and legal opinions. Coordinates and oversees outside counsel and ensures effective representation in litigation and specialized matters. Directs legislative affairs —drafting legislation, preparing testimony, and advancing the County’s legislative agenda with state and regional partners.
