Employment Type: Part time Shift: Rotating Shift Description: Hours | Schedule: Per diem Variable hours: Position Summary: The Radiation Therapist assists physicians by treating patients with prescribed doses of ionizing radiation supplied and controlled through specialized radiation equipment according to established policies. What the Radiation Therapist will do: Reviews patient’s medical charts for prescription, treatment time and prescribed dose. Confers with physicians as necessary to clarify orders. Prepares treatment room and equipment, positions patient, provides procedure explanation and information, and monitors patient. Reinforce Radiation Oncologist’s advice to patients regarding side effects to treatment and care. Performs daily warm-ups and performance improvement monitoring of all radiation producing equipment. Pours heated metal alloys into molds to fabricate radiation blocks used to define treatment fields on patients; cuts blocks utilizing power tools for final shaping. Performs simulation duties for tumor localization, for brachytherapy dosimetry, and documents information. Responsible for recognizing equipment malfunctions. Performs minor equipment repairs and c...
