Job Description The Division of Transportation Planning & Management (TPM) seeks an experienced and innovative candidate to serve as Assistant Commissioner (A/C) for Curb Management. This newly created position will oversee the agency’s planning work related to managing curbside activity, and will lead a diverse and inclusive team supporting that effort. New York City has approximately 3,000,000 on-street parking spaces. The majority of these spaces are free parking in residential areas, and the remainder are governed by a complex set of regulations, including paid metered parking, truck loading, vehicle or bicycle travel lanes, and many others. This new position will consolidate currently separate planning functions from around the agency related to curb management in order to provide a consistent and holistic approach to planning the use of the city’s curb space. The group will both lead on curb management-related initiatives and will support other parts of the agency in incorporating curb management into street design changes.
