Registered Nurse 2 (Geriatric) Position Summary: At the Long Island State Veterans Home, our Registered Nurses are critical members of the team who diagnose and treat responses to actual or potential health problems by means of nursing methods and techniques such as case finding, health teaching and counseling. Incumbents provide care supportive to and restorative of health and well-being, while adhering to a medical regimen. Duties of a Registered Nurse may include the following but are not limited to: - Coordinates the medical and nursing care needs of the residents with other disciplines and departments. - Ensures and provides direct care to the residents consistent with the comprehensive assessment, request of the resident and goals of the plan of care. - Supervises and evaluates the effectiveness of the nursing care provided to the residents. - Documents and updates the residents care plan regarding all changes and needs of the residents and assures that changes are communicated to all unit staff, including the evening and night shifts. - Communicates effectively and respond appropriately to issues and concerns of residents’ families and staff. - Assesses the daily needs of th...
