The Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL is part of the ETH Domain. Approximately 600 people work on the sustainable use and protection of the environment and on the handling of natural hazards. PostDoc in Soil Carbon Biogeochemistry 90-100% (f/m/d) The research unit Forest & Soil Ecology assesses the impact of climate change and management on forests and their soils. For 20 months , the Soil Biogeochemistry group is looking for a You will work within the SNSF-funded RootForC project, a collaborative project investigating the contribution of roots to soil organic matter in European forests under global change, linked to the CLEANFOREST COST Action. The project investigates the transfer of root-derived carbon into soils, the residence time of this carbon in soils of global change experiments and along climatic and nitrogen deposition gradients. The research will involve the use of stable isotopes, radiocarbon, and organic matter properties. These datasets will then be linked to environmental variables, in close collaboration with other scientists at WSL and other European institutions.
