Department PSD Enrico Fermi Institute: HEP About the Department: The Enrico Fermi Institute is an interdisciplinary research unit within the Division of Physical Sciences of the University of Chicago. The Institute's activities include the following: string theory and theoretical high-energy physics, experimental high-energy physics, theoretical astrophysics and cosmology, experimental particle astrophysics, infrared and optical astronomy, cosmic microwave background observations, general relativity and gravitational waves, and cosmochemistry. Job Summary: The CERN Technologist job involves performing routine assignments related to engineering activities to establish operating data and conduct experimental tests for assigned functions or departments within the University. Designs modifies and tests electronic systems and equipment. Confers with management to determine engineering feasibility and cost-effectiveness. Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline while acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills. This is a one-year position from June 19, 2026, through August 1, 2027.
