FIRE PROTECTION DESIGNER II

Job description

Position Summary: Responsible for designing and developing fire protection systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects. This mid-level position requires the ability to prepare detailed layouts, perform hydraulic calculations, and ensure all designs meet applicable codes, standards, and project specifications. Working under the direction of senior designers or engineers, the Fire Protection Designer II supports project managers and field teams by producing accurate, constructible, and cost-effective designs. Responsibilities and Duties: - Designs fire protection systems utilizing architect generated dimensions and structural backgrounds. Identifies and resolves all elements affecting coordination and communicates any outstanding issues. - Performs hydraulic calculations as required. - Completes stock listing for fabrication shop as required. - Reviews all design drawings in detail before fabrication. - Creates design drawing schedules in conjunction with the project manager for permit and fabrication schedule. - Reviews all design documents prior to submittal for permit and architect/engineer review.
