Job Summary The Surgery Scheduler much like a Receptionist shall greet patients and visitors and be responsive to their needs, collect patient demographic and insurance information for the billing system, schedule patient appointments, answer telephones and distribute messages to appropriate personnel. However, the primary responsibility of the Surgery Scheduler will be working with a Surgeon and their office staff coordinating surgical appointments on behalf of patients with several surgery facilities. Greets patients and visitors in a respectful, pleasant manner, using eye contact immediately upon entering center. Checks patients in and creates visits in the computer system, distributes and verifies patient demographics and updates into system, collects appropriate co-pays and ensures co-pay is documented on super bill. Schedules follow-up appointment as needed. Confirms eligibility for scheduled patients about 1 day prior. Handles all incoming telephone calls and exercises judgment as to the urgency or other nature of the calls and directs them to appropriate personnel. Assures accurate bank deposit completion daily.
