Overview The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) is seeking an experienced Research Analyst to join the Science, Systems, and Sustainment Division (S3D). This role is for a mission modeler who can design and execute analyses of military operations to evaluate munitions, sensors, tactics, and kill-webs. You will participate in and eventually lead technically rigorous studies, develop new analytic approaches, and translate complex simulation results into defensible insights for senior decision-makers. Specific research-related activities expected of this position include: Responsibilities - Independently identify and propose research efforts that address Department of War gaps and needs. - Design and execute mission-level studies using frameworks such as AFSIM or STORM. - Develop scalable analytic workflows to process and statistically interrogate simulation outputs. - Produce high-impact reports and briefings to technical and non-technical audiences. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a closely related quantitative field with at least 3 years of relevant experience beyond academic work, or Master’s degree in one of the above fi...
