About the unit 3 East SICU is a general surgery floor and we typically take all general surgery patients, vascular, thoracic, and non-neuro trauma’s. A unique patient population that is specific to 3 East only is our Transplant, high risk OB, post-partem, and our ECMO Patients. Corewell Health-WBUH specializes in Kidney and Liver Transplant and 3 East is the first unit they come to after surgery. 3 East is also the only unit that receives ECMO patients throughout the whole Hospital System. Staffing on the unit consists of nurses, nurse techs, Critical Care Tech’s, and Clinical Assistants.
