Description The Department of Spanish & French Studies at Occidental College invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of French (non-tenure track) for the 2026-2027 academic year. All Occidental College language classes are held in-person on campus in Los Angeles. In Fall 2026 (Aug 25-Dec 15) and Spring 2027 (Jan 19-May 17), the new hire will teach three courses per semester (six total for the full academic year). Courses will include Fren 102 and Fren 201 . Depending on departmental needs, student enrollment, and upon successful performance evaluation, the contract may be renewed, with the possibility of teaching additional levels, including other language classes and courses in French and Francophone literary and cultural studies ( Fren 101 , Fren 202 , upper-level courses ). Start date: August 16, 2026 We welcome all applications but will give preference to experienced applicants with a strong pedagogical background in communicative language teaching and a desire to teach French language courses at beginning and intermediate levels.
