Peer Academic Tutors in the Disciplines, under the supervision of the Director of the Learning Resource Center, help students create strategies for developing study skills, improving reading skills, and taking notes in discipline-specific areas including, but not limited to World Languages, Humanities, Education, Psychology, English for Academic Purposes, Core Literacies and beyond. Peer Academic Tutors in this area may work with students to formulate plans that strengthen skills in specific subject areas or to focus on the work to be done in discipline-specific courses. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Discuss effective strategies for studying and learning, being mindful of the diverse nature of the learning process. - Assist students with the review of course material and preparation for assignments and exams. - Use the TracCloud appointment management system to document student visits and create informative notes for students’ instructors. - Participate in the creation of student-focused events that will further learning such as workshops, presentations, or review sessions. - Participate in at least two continuing education workshops per semester. - Communicate information to the Director...
