Purpose/Description The Coop Engineering Student will apply theory and principles of civil engineering in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of structures and facilities under the direction of engineering staff. - Required Tasks - Employees would be assigned to one of the following areas: - Design Office - Employees would report to the Design Office in the downtown area of the City of Detroit and would perform a variety of duties as members of a design squad. The employees in this classification assist other members of the squad in the design - Field Engineering Office Employees would report to the Field Engineering Office in the City of Wayne and would perform a variety of duties in the areas mainly of Construction/Survey, but also including Labs & Testing, Permit and Traffic. The employees will assist other members in the crew in construction layout of civil engineering projects, primarily road and bridge construction, using taping techniques, measuring angles using electronic theodolites, and establishing vertical control using automatic levels and self-reading or direct reading roads. - The survey crew also obtains boundary and field topography inf...
