Description The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Virginia School of Medicine seeks multiple candidates to join the faculty as tenure-ineligible Clinical Instructors for its Ultrasound Fellowship. The Emergency Ultrasound program is designed to produce national leaders and is directed by Dr. Christopher Thom, Ultrasound Director. The Chair for the Department of Emergency Medicine is Dr. Andrew E. Muck, MD, MBA. The Department of Emergency Medicine has a rich academic history that includes well-established education programs for medical students, residents, and fellows. The University of Virginia Medical Center is a 600-bed tertiary care and Level 1 Trauma center located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Charlottesville. Currently, the UVA Emergency Department treats an annual volume of >60,000 patients inclusive of adult and pediatrics. The UVA expansion opened in late 2019 and provides for a new adult and pediatric Emergency Department, as well as a tower to provide expanded surgical and inpatient services.
