Job Description Summary: Start time 7AM- 7PM Surgical Short Stay unit (SSU) primarily sees post-operative patients who require a 24 hour stay or less. We have several same day surgeries as well. The goal of our unit is to discharge patients quickly and safely once discharge criteria is met. Upon arrival to the unit, we set the expectation that the goals of our patients are to Walk, Eat (tolerate solid foods), Void spontaneously, and that pain is under control. Common Surgeries we see- Hysterectomy, hernia repair, Thyroidectomy, lap cholecystectomy, lap appendectomy, excision of endometriosis, robotic prostatectomy, nephrectomy, and transurethral resection of the prostate.
