Overview The Asian security and technology intern at the American Enterprise Institute will conduct research in support of Fellow Ryan Fedasiuk. The Asian security and technology portfolio focuses on US defense policy and security issues in the Indo-Pacific, including US-China technology competition, China’s approach to industrial policy, and integrating policy and innovation. Key responsibilities include: - Monitoring key developments in critical technology sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and rare earths; - Researching military-civil fusion in China and the US defense innovation system, - Compiling sources in English and Chinese, and - Collecting and organizing data. The ideal candidate will possess: Working proficiency in Mandarin is helpful but not required. Candidates who can participate in the program in person for 25–40 hours per week are encouraged to apply. - A demonstrated interest in Asian security and technology, - Research experience in technology policy or related internship experience, - Close attention to detail, - The ability to work independently, - A positive attitude, and - Excellent interpersonal skills.
