Essential Job Duties: - Open and sort Gross Anatomic specimens and verify patient information on requisition as well as specimen containers - Accession and label specimen requisition and container, ensuring correct labels are attached to both - Assimilate and apply medical terminology during data entry - Enter patient/specimen information into Laboratory Information System accurately - Operate and maintain cassette engraver - Clean and maintain all lab equipment as required - Sort, maintain, and dispose of tissue archive bins, including stacking and removing storage bins in tissue storage area - Adheres to all PBM Safety policies and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies - Handle infectious biological specimens, caustics, toxic chemicals and/or irritants appropriately and safely - Learn and apply computer related applications and programs, including using electronic keyboard and other peripheral devices - Ensure work area has proper coverage at all times during the work shift, ie coverage for meal and/or rest periods - Ensure timely distribution of completed patient materials to assigned pathologists - Protects conf...
