Job description
Summary Under the general direction of the Operating Room Nurse Manager, the orthopedic supply technologist is responsible for providing direct patient care in support of the hospital's orthopedic program. The orthopedic supply technologist works with surgeons, Operating Room personnel, Emergency Department personnel, and nursing staff and is responsible for the operation of surgical equipment, patient casting, the application of traction, and therapeutic equipment. Education: High school diploma or equivalent(GED). Graduate of an accredited National Association of Orthopedic Technologists (NBCOT) school or a minimum of 2 years hospital experience as an orthopedic technologist. Certification, Registration & Licensure: Certification required to obtain: BLS certification within 3 months. NBCOT certification preferred and completion of the Medical Technician Registration is required. Experience: None required. Schedule: 4 10 hour shifts Heavy call required: Responsibilities: Assists orthopedic surgeons, clinical staff, and others as requested in applying and removing casts, splints, and dressings.
