Job description

Under immediate supervision, performs skilled services within the Municipal Services Department/ Collection System Maintenance Division, involving operating a variety of heavy construction and right-of-way equipment. Constructs, repairs, and maintains roads, sewers, fields and rights-of-way; performs traffic control duties; performs minor repairs and maintenance on equipment. Operates snow removal equipment as required. Prepares logs and reports of work completed. Performs emergency services during non-business hours, as needed. Communicates with citizens and customers. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree, and six (6) months’ experience in the operation of light equipment or six (6) months as an Equipment Operator I. Must possess a valid Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with air brake and tanker endorsements or if selected for position, obtain Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License permit prior to first day of employment (if permit is obtained, the selected candidate must obtain the Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License within the first six months of hire).
